Lana barely lives here now, is moving out and is no longer on our cooking rota.
Sara doesn’t know how she feels. (A hat could help?)
I do know how I feel and I wish I didn’t feel that way.

Chocolate chip cookies and late-night chats

It’s been a very long time since you heard from the Aldreth Grove girls. Since the golden old days, Lana has virtually stopped being a member of our household. It’s sad in a way but, at the same time, she is enjoying her new relationship with Dave and it is her choice not to spend time here. The most recent development was that she doesn’t want to be a part of our cooking rota any more, to which me, Colette and Sara all shared the same instant reaction of, “well, yeah, that makes sense,” because we cook for her and then she’s never around to eat it.

I’m writing here again because Sara and I are, at present eating chocolate chip cookies and having a late-night chat about pretty heart-felt stuff. Oh, and arguing about who’s the most horrible person. It’s so hard sometimes to know how you feel (her problem) or to control how you feel (my problem). The thing is, I don’t want to have a problem. Rather, I don’t want my problem to necessarily have to be a problem. A little more leeway would be nice, if a little selfish.

At least I know how I feel – Sara is sturggling and, dare I say it, I think she needs a (pirate) thinking hat!

Home alone…

Ok, so im home alone and its cold and rather depressing. I could be spending my time with a special someone but he’d already agreed to go see some m8s etc, so yes im freezing and feeling a bit lonely. Apart from the fact i can’t stop shivering and my raynauds is currently rather painful, im pretty amazing…really like someone, and ive given up caring about how people want to judge me on the matter, coz i like him and I know i only just split up with my ex but its my choice and i can’t really help how i feel. At the end of the day he makes me happy so it’s ok….ooo phone just went off, him haha. i still feel rather immature coz i get all giggly and stupid about it. Party last night was pretty good, mike was turning 20 and it was basically just an archaeologists drunken gathering at his followed by the duchess the guys mooned him as their happy birthday message, was pretty funny, haha. there’s not much else i can say without blabbering on about details and how cute that special someone is…and no1 really wants to hear that at all. Really not sure i should be this cold when ive got about 5 layers on and a sleeping bag wrapped around me….hmmm. O well. Dono whether to put tv on or not. Would be nice to have some other people here, especially the other aldreth girls so i could go on about things to them, even though I know they don’t care…ie. cauli not txting me back twice last night!!!! grrrr

It’s all about the Sundays

I had an amazing and inspiring weekend at Shared Planet – the annual People and Planet student activism conference, which was held in Manchester this year. AWESOME doesn’t really sum it up. I’d never heard of Tar Sands before and it’s clearly a major issue so I shall soon be going to the h2oil website to watch their documentary online and find out a lot more about what I can do to save an area of Canadian land equivalent to the size of England, and the indigenous peoples who live there. For one thing, I know that targetting RBS with the Ditch Dirty Development campaign would be great because RBS invests in Tar Sands. A mass student action against RBS, with People and Planet groups from York, Leeds and Sheffield, is being planned for quite soon. It would probably be pretty irresponsible of me to announce exactly where and when on the internet.

I was also really interested by a lot of what Ann Pettifor said. She sounded like a really intelligent woman and she talked a lot of sense. Despite this, Graham has his qualms with her, which he shall be detailing next week in his workshop on whether or not charities (and NGOs) can make difference. Still, she was interesting and the idea of a New Green Deal is fascinating. It would be amazing if the government accepted the proposal at its appeal in the next couple of months.

3 out of the 4 Aldreth Grove girls have just been skipping and have happily returned with:

66 mince pies
25 bagels
loooooads of bread products
loooooads of little oranges – I didn’t check what type
8 free range eggs
6 packs of spring onions
5 bags of potatoes
3 cabbages
3 bouquets of flowers

Colette’s fallen asleep on the floor and I may have a cheeky bagel to spur me on with my research into China.

There’s something wrong with Wednesdays

Wednesdays are clearly not the day of the week to skipping. There was NOTHING in the bins. Bad times.

In other news: I slept so much today that I missed The Wave demonstration on campus and the film screening of The Age of Stupid this evening. More bad times. But hey, portering demo tomoz and hopefully I’ll make that and there will still be pizza left and some of the pizza will be vegetarian! Yay!

I’m sorry! I felt sooo bad, it was literally ok for the couple of days meg was away and then as soon as she came back i was crying on the phone again. Urgh…bad times eh!! but anyway, i am happy…because I have cheese…and AMAZING friends

I do now have a cold tho so i may not seem as happy….but I have a job, YAY!!!

Apparently something has it in for me so that I can’t have a good time in this house. For this reason and this reason alone, the crying commences, just 45 minutes after I return home.

I have been told off for making this blog too depressing so here goes….

I am VERY happy at the minute…

Last night I got slightly drunk and realised I have no skill at ANY game we decided to play. But it was good…even if I didn’t finish my piece of chocolate cake (bad times!! – Lana loves cake! and CHEESE…see below). I have noticed that the girls give up a lot sooner into the night recently…or i have for the last few times ive been with archaeology people ended up one of the last people with some of the guys.

I love cheese….in all its variety….it rocks my world!!! woop woop woop!! I am running low currently…i am also planning a VERY CHEESY TUESDAY today!! Aldreth Grove be warned…

I probably sound still drunk from this don’t I?! nope…this is me NORMAL, haha.

Someone is currently making me act like a 14 year old schoolgirl…awwww. This is good and bad…and well kinda nice for now. Also i need a pirate costume, help!! there is definitely an overload of pirate hats in our living room but might actually have to wear some clothes as well :S

I may have a nap in a minute…then venture to ASDA where I shall get CHEESE…LOTS OF CHEESE!

I miss Meg…come back, please.

Also I am excited about the 3D ness I may encounter 2night…not sure I should be excited going by cauli’s early review but I am still hoping that it will progress from 3D to a full blown hologram…i so wanted the Queen walking round our living room in some weird mystic form. Actually that sounds like a bad bad dream.

Why am I never in Aldreth Grove? Do I actually live there?

Going to the dentist tomorrow (/today) to get my braces made all tight and sore and rubbishy. Boo hiss. But, on the plus side, time at home means I get to see my grandparents, my sister+niece and my bezzie bud. So tings (yes, tings, gansta tings) are looking up innit blud.

Yay!!! We have a blog! This is just gonna end up like our facebook conversations, only other people can read it and have a window into our minds..and it’s not in pirate..stupid normal english being all boring.

So yeah, I felt the need to add something but I don’t have much constructive to say..except HAPPY!! And I’ve managed to be uber productive and convince people I actually know what I’m on about! Having started my presentation at about 4 in the morning this morning and generally having no knowledge anyway.So YAYS! Praps I DO know some biology after all!

Yesterday was a lesson in not enough concentration and too much tea..possibly interlinked phenomena but I can’t be sure. Oh yeah and we all temporarily became nocturnal..even Sara was converted! But yeah, I was very close to the tea limit (12 to any who don’t know).

I’ve not had any reggae sauce today…but EGGTIMES are happening at the moment..and now they’re not. Aw the yoke wasn’t runny. Well THAT was a disappointment of an egg. My first boiled egg in years as well. But I did have an amazingly big and tastey and cheap yogurt…okayyy and MOVE ON from the food.

CURRY NIGHT!! ..again…I maintain that too-many-day-old curry almost killed me tother day and I was gonna claim to be outcurried, but I smell it now…mmmmm chilli!!!!

And THE LANA SONG IS PLAYING! Aww we all love lana…although im useless apparently, at everything! Thanks lana! “Oh beautiful lana I’m telling my mama” L-A-N-A, L-A-N-A!! AND mummy megs is gonna be home for at least a few minutes today, so the house feels complete! Cept there’s not enough Sara action goin on right now..she is busy cooking and cutting her fingers though so I reckon I’ll let her off.

OMG THE 3D QUEEN!!! ….I have to say I’m slightly disappointed about it tbh..I was fully expecting a hollographic queen taking a gander around our living room..instead there’s just a lot of blue..it’s confusing and no one near as amazing as the title suggests..Derren Brown next tho. Ah I don’t trust what he’s gonna do! If he has the power of 3D who knows what will happen?!

Ahh MORE 3D TIMES!!

I feel this rant made less sense and so lessened some of the depression that we all seem to have at the moment!
